Patek Philippe 5159 Perpetual Calendar

Launched in 2007, the Patek Philippe Ref. 5159 is the newest version of a legendary model combining two Patek Philippe classics: the perpetual calendar with retrograde date hand and an officer style case. The Ref. 5159 is made in 18Kt white or yellow gold. This timepiece has a silvery opaline dial with hand guilloched center and black roman numerals. The case size is a contemporary 38mm.

The Patek Philippe Ref. 5159 perpetual calendar takes account of the monthly variations of days and leap years and does not require adjustments until the year 2100.
The Ref. 5159 retrograde date display was a challenging technical achievement: instead of making a complete revolution, the calendar hand moves through an arc before jumping back to the first day of the next month. The moon-phase mechanism exhibits extraordinary precision: it will run for 122 years and 45 days before it deviates by one day from the true lunar cycle.

The Patek Philippe Ref. 5159G (pictured above) is housed in an elegant Officer style case and features a sapphire crystal case back with a hinged cover in solid gold. Beneath the sapphire crystal lies the heart of the Ref. 5159, the Caliber 315 self-winding movement powered by a central 21Kt gold rotor. The Ref. 5159 Caliber 315 movement meets the extreme level of quality and craftsmanship necessary to receive the Geneva Seal.

The Patek Philippe Ref. 5159 comes with a 18Kt gold fold-over clasp.

Patek Philippe also offers matching Calatrava Cross cuff-links in either white or yellow gold.
